MOM'S BLENDER APPLE BUTTER
We pick apples from our backyard but you can just as easily "pick" them
from an orchard or from your grocery produce department to make this
delicious butter.
Yields--3 pints
Ingredients
4 pounds apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup cider or apple juice
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 tablespoon vanilla
Directions
Put apples and cider or apple juice in saucepan and simmer until tender.
Process mixture in blender until pureed and smooth.
Add rest of ingredients and return to stove.
Cook for 45 minutes over low heat; stir frequently.
Place mixture in sterilized jars and seal immediately.

JOE'S BARBECUE SAUCE FOR CHICKEN
This is a simple and tasty sauce from my Sicilian grandmother, "Big Nonna".
Ingredients
1 part olive oil
1 part sherry
Garlic clove, cut in half
Salt & pepper to taste
2-3 bay leaves.
Directions
Set aside some sauce for use right before serving.
Cover meat with rest of sauce and soak for one hour.
Grill meat until done to preference.
Just before serving, baste cooked meat with set-aside, unused sauce.
